LPS Guarantees 99.94 Percent Of Savings For Indonesian Citizens Is Safe

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Board of Deposit Insurance Corporations (LPS) Purbaya Yudhi Sadive said the number of customer accounts guaranteed until the end of June 2025 reached 99.94 percent of the total account or equivalent to 636.77 million accounts for customers of Commercial Banks.

"LPS continues to maintain high deposit coverage while at the same time encouraging conducive stability for the recovery of economic recovery. The number of customer accounts guaranteed by all deposits is up to IDR 2 billion by LPS until the end of June 2025, which reaches 99.94 percent of the total account of commercial Bank customers," he said at a KSSK press conference at the LPS office, Jakarta, Monday, July 28.

Meanwhile, Purbaya said that in the same period, the number of accounts of the People's Credit Bank (BPR) or Sharia People's Financing Bank (BPRS) guaranteed reached 99.97 percent of the total BPR/BPRRS customer accounts or equivalent to 15,536,549 accounts.

In the regular determination for the period May 2025, LPS decided to reduce the Guarantee Interest Rate (TBP) for deposits in the Rupiah by 25 bps to 4.00 percent at the Commercial Bank and 6.50 percent at the BPR.

In addition, continued Purbaya, LPS maintains TBP for deposits in Foreign Valuta at Commercial Banks to 2.25 percent.

"The TBP comes into effect from June 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025, but remains open to be adjusted at any time in terms of changes to market interest rates, banking conditions, and a significant economy," he said.

Purbaya also revealed that LPS has responsively adjusted the TBP to support monetary policy transmission and strengthen the momentum of national economic recovery.

"Monitoring the coverage of deposit guarantees and evaluation of TBP continues to be carried out in line with the development of deposit interest rates, banking liquidity conditions, and national economic developments," he said.
