JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI affirms its commitment to supporting Koperasi Desa Merah Putih.Cooperative Program, which was officially launched by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Bentangan Village, Klaten, Central Java, Monday, July 21. As part of the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), BNI is actively involved in this program through the management of 22 out of a total of 103 pilot cooperatives, including Koperasi Desa Merah Putih in Bentangan Village. President Prabowo called cooperatives a way to realize people's economic sovereignty through the spirit of mutual cooperation and kinship. He stated that cooperatives can turn weaknesses into strengths and become the foundation of true independence.

Koperasi Desa Merah Putih aims to form 80,000 cooperative units throughout Indonesia.

This program includes the formation of new cooperatives, the revitalization of old cooperatives, and the development of ongoing cooperatives. Cooperatives will manage various strategic services such as basic food outlets, logistics distribution, warehouses, cold storage, pharmacies, village clinics, to savings and loan units.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo explained that BNI has prepared various financial solutions to strengthen village cooperatives. Among them are through the BNIdirect platform, wondr by BNI, and the Age46 network which reaches remote parts of the country.

BNI is ready to support village cooperatives to grow as a pillar of an independent and inclusive local economy. We are present not only with financing, but also with digital solutions and institutional strengthening," said Okki.

BNI assesses that this initiative is in line with the vision of its founder, RM Margono Djojohadikusumo, who emphasized the importance of building economic power from villages to support equitable national growth.

"With BNI's active involvement, this program is expected to be able to accelerate the equitable distribution of village welfare and independence in a sustainable manner," concluded Okki.
