JAKARTA - BUMN Holding Perkebunan PTPN III (Persero) launched the Eco Cycle application, digital innovation based on circular economic principles. This application aims to optimize the use of waste in the plantation industry, especially in the palm oil, rubber, and sugar cane sectors.
President Director of PTPN III (Persero) Denaldy Mulino Mauna explained that Eco Cycle is one part of the transformation of the plantation industry towards a greener and more efficient direction.
"Eco Cycle will be the support of data-based waste management teachers. This initiative is a tangible form of environmental responsibility from PTPN," said Denaldy in a statement quoted on Thursday, July 10.
This application, continued Denaldy, is designed to support the efficiency of organic waste management as well as open up opportunities for commercialization of garden and factory residues.
In addition, Eco Cycle allows real-time data monitoring, creating more accountable and integrated waste management.
"This technology is not only a reporting tool, but also a system that brings together environmental, operational and economic aspects in one digital platform," he said.
Meanwhile, PTPN IV PalmCo's Director of Strategy & Sustainability, Ungun Untaryo explained that the implementation of Eco Cycle in the PalmCo environment will be a major leap in digitizing waste management based on circular economic principles.
Ugun said that with an integrated system, decision-making in the field would be much faster and more precise, especially in managing production residue such as empty bunches, liquid oil mills, to volatile ashes.
"With Eco Cycle, we can monitor thoroughly the waste-producing points and directly analyze their utilization potential. This opens up a large space for the development of alternative energy, cost efficiency, and potential for waste commercialization," explained Ugun.
Ugun also said this application will strengthen PalmCo's position in ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) aspects, and support the achievement of the Gold Proper and certification of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
According to Ugin, Eco Cycle is also a concrete step to support PTPN Group's decarbonization strategy in facing the challenges of today's industry.
"As one of the subholdings under the auspices of PTPN III (Persero), we realize that the challenges ahead are not light. The business world is now moving in a greener direction, more efficient, and more socially and environmentally responsible," he explained.
The launch of the Eco Cycle Application has been carried out at the Palm Oil Factory (PKS) Pagar Merbau, Regional II, North Sumatra. According to Ugun, the selection of PKS Pagar Merbau as the launch location is very appropriate.
