The Directorate General of Marine Spatial Planning (Ditjen PRL) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is committed to accelerating licensing for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (KKPRL) including the upstream oil and gas industry.
"This is so that the use of the sea space is in accordance with the spatial planning," said Director General of Marine Spatial Planning of the KKP Kartika Listriana in a statement in Jakarta, Sunday.
He said that since the issuance of the Job Creation Law, the government has a high target in the investment sector, one of which is related to the simplification of permits.
During the period 2021-2025, the KKP has issued 121 Approval for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (PKKPRL) for upstream oil and gas business activities located in the allocation of oil and gas zones (oil and gas) and outside the oil and gas zone.
"The sea has several layers, ranging from the seabed to the water column so that at the same location, it is possible that there are several different utilizations of activities," Kartika explained.

Furthermore, he said energy security through the availability of oil and gas is also a priority. If it is not in the oil and gas zone, the pipe can still be given permission on condition, to facilitate oil and gas development projects.
"KKP will conduct an evaluation in the mining sector and follow up on the permits that have been issued," he said.
Not only that, Kartika continued, KKP can also review the National Regional Spatial Planning Document (RTRWN) and together with other Ministries / Agencies (K/L) formulate spatial planning on land and sea for the next 20 years.
In the document, Kartika hopes that the locations of mining plans can be included or regulated through implementing regulations as the basis for KKPRL licensing.
Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized the importance of spatial planning to preserve the ecosystem, social life of the community and economic growth.
