PT PLN (Persero) recorded a decrease in net profit achievement in 2024. Throughout 2024, PLN posted a net profit of IDR 17.76 trillion compared to 2023 which was recorded at IDR 22.07 trillion.
Although net profit has decreased, PLN reports that it has managed to record revenue of IDR 545.4 trillion as well as the highest record in the company's history. This figure increased 11.9 percent year on year (yoy) compared to the previous year.
This positive performance was conveyed at the 2024 Annual Accountability Report General Meeting (GMS LPT) which was held at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 18.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN throughout 2024 managed to record sales of 306.22 terawatt hour (TWh) of electricity or grew 6.17 percent compared to the 2023 realization.
"This achievement is also equivalent to 102.08 percent of the target set by the government of 299.99 TWh," he said.
He added that the sale of electricity was the main support for the company's revenue, which reached IDR 353.17 trillion, an increase from IDR 333.19 trillion in the previous year.
By 2024, electricity sales will be dominated by the household sector by 43 percent, followed by the industrial sector at 30 percent, the business sector at 19 percent, and other sectors at 8 percent.
The increase in electricity sales is also supported by efforts to add assets and consolidate the entire PLN business process to become a modern, innovative company and ready to adapt to global business climate change.
Thanks to these efforts, the number of customers grew 5.88 percent from the previous period or 3.72 million subscribers.
"This achievement is a clear proof that the transformation we have carried out since 2020 has brought concrete results and affirmed the position of PLN as a world-class company. In the future, we are committed to continuing to strengthen performance and present energy solutions that are sustainable," added Darmawan.
Meanwhile, in terms of household customers, PLN continues to expand service reach through the village electricity program (Lisdes). According to government directives, the development of electricity infrastructure in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas continues to be accelerated.
This effort succeeded in raising the national electrification ratio to 99.83 percent. The addition also had an impact on increasing electricity sales of household customers by 130.43 TWh, up 6.62 percent.
The increase in the number of customers in the household sector, especially in villages, is our commitment to ensure equal access to electricity throughout Indonesia according to the direction of the government. This not only boosts sales, but also to ensure energy justice for all Indonesian people," said Darmawan
