KKP Targets 100 Red And White Fishing Villages To Be Completed In The Next Four Months

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is targeting the construction of 100 Red and White Fishermen's Villages (KNMP) this year.

The construction of these 100 KNMPs will be completed within four months.

Expert Staff to the Minister for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs of the KKP Trian Yunanda said the KKP had built a Modern Fisherman Village in Samber Binyeri Village, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua, which required a budget of around Rp. 20 billion. This figure is also a reference for the need for a budget per location for the program.

"We used to build a modern fishing village in Biak with a budget of Rp. 22 billion, then it became a reference budget per location. We did that for 3 months," Trian said at the 'Morning Sea-Kompung Fisherman Modern' event which was monitored online, Monday, June 16.

Trian said that a really careful plan was needed to achieve the target of the 100 KNMPs in four months.

He also admitted that time constraints were one of the challenges.

In the near future, his party will collect the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) which is a candidate for a leading location.

This is to ensure in detail the fulfillment of standards from upstream to downstream.

"Right, this is 100 locations, yes, we hope that we can complete this assumption from our team within four months with a really mature plan. Therefore, in parallel, we prepare pre-village," he said.

Previously, the KKP had received 910 proposals for the submission of the Merah Putih Fisherman Village (KNMP) from various coastal areas and aquaculture villages in Indonesia.

The KKP closed the registration of the KNMP proposal on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

"As of yesterday, we officially closed the registration of the KNMP program. The extraordinary enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the local government and the community as evidence of the KNMP Program is common hope," said Special Staff to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for Public Relations and Public Communications Doni Ismanto in a written statement, Thursday, June 5.

Diketahui, KKP menargetkan pembangunan 100 KNMP di berbagai wilayah, yang 80 persen penduduknya adalah nelayan atau pembudidaya perikanan.

Doni mengatakan, pemerintah menggelontorkan dana sekitar Rp22 miliar untuk setiap lokasi pembangunan.

It is known, the KKP targets the construction of 100 KNMPs in various regions, of which 80 percent of the population is fishermen or fishery cultivators.

Doni said the government disbursed funds of around Rp. 22 billion for each construction site.

"With this program, the traditional coastal areas and aquaculture villages will be transformed into integrated fisheries areas," he said.
