"This completion is dominated by private vehicles and logistics trucks which are the backbone of distribution between islands. The peak of the flow of crossings from Java to Sumatra occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with the number of passing vehicles reaching 10,974 units," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, May 13.
Shelvy also said that the total number of vehicles crossing from Java to Sumatra during the Vesak holiday period from Friday to Monday (9 to 12 May) reached 31,829 units, with the largest composition coming from trucks as many as 11,633 units or equivalent to 36 percent, followed by private cars as many as 12,917 units or about 40 percent of the total vehicle.
"Meanwhile, the backflow from Sumatra to Java peaked on Monday, May 12, 2025, with a total of 9,183 vehicles crossing," he said.
During the same period, continued Shelvy, crossings from Sumatra to Java also recorded a high number with a total of 30,325 vehicles.

"The total number of passengers who took part in the crossing from Sumatra to Java was recorded at 118,032 people," he said.

During the four days of the holiday period, the total number of service users crossing from Java to Bali reached 99,353 people with 25,596 vehicles.
"Of these, trucks accounted for 8,254 units or 32 percent, and private cars reached 8,148 units or 32 percent of the total vehicle," he explained.
Meanwhile, from the opposite direction, namely Bali to Java, there were 90,144 people and 23,467 vehicles that had been smoothly dispatched.
Trucks still dominate the composition of passing vehicles, namely 7,983 units or 34 percent, followed by 7,203 private cars or about 31 percent of the total vehicle.
