JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has resumed the Cash Labor Intensive Program (PKT) in the 2025 Fiscal Year (TA) with a total budget of IDR 2.5 trillion.

The program is targeted to absorb around 138,000 workers spread across various parts of Indonesia through small-scale infrastructure development by involving the community as the main actors.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said labor-intensive programs are development strategies that not only produce physical output, but also have a direct impact on the local economy and create jobs.

"This program is an important instrument to ensure the benefits of development can be felt evenly in all levels of society," said Dody as quoted from his written statement, Friday, May 9.

Strategicly, the labor-intensive component in dealing with poverty also supports the PU 608 target, namely investment efficiency (ICOR less than 6), poverty alleviation (to 0 percent) and driving economic growth (8 percent per year).

Through community involvement in PKT infrastructure development, the program is expected to open access to work, daily income and improve basic infrastructure such as clean water, sanitation and regional socio-economic infrastructure.

As for 2025, labor-intensive programs will be distributed through technical units within the Ministry of Public Works including the Irrigation Water Administration Improvement Acceleration Program (P3TGAI) in 8,000 locations. Its activities are in the form of rehabilitation of tertiary irrigation networks to support the agricultural sector and create jobs in rural areas.

Next, settlement infrastructure through the Directorate General of Human Settlements, such as the Provision of Drinking Water and Community-Based Sanitation (PAMSIMAS) in 299 locations, Community-Based Sanitation (Sanimas) in 463 locations and the Regional Socio-Economic Infrastructure Development Program (PISEW) in 301 locations.

Then also the construction of the Reduce Waste Management Site, Reuse, Recycle (TPS3R) in 53 locations and the Handling of Extreme Poverty (PKE) by reaching 10 locations.
