JAKARTA - PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX) reported that the number of Indonesian capital market investors had exceeded 16 million Single Investor Identification (SID), or 16,216,944 SID on Tuesday, April 29.
This number increased by 1,345,305 SID compared to the position as of December 31, 2024.
"Interestingly, more than 79 percent of these investors are under 40 years old," said IDX Development Director Jeffrey Hendrik as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 30.
Jeffrey said this achievement was achieved thanks to the close collaboration between the IDX and the Self Regulatory Organization (SRO), which is supported by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and securities companies.
The collaboration is carried out through the IDX Investment Gallery (GI), universities, schools, agencies, institutions, academics, Capital Market Ambassadors, and other stakeholders.
"Not only that, the achievement of 16 million investors is also the result of support for educational innovation and digitizing access to capital market information," said Jeffrey.
He said the IDX understands that digital readiness and the ability to convey relevant and easily accessible education anytime and anywhere is key.
These efforts were made through the IDX Representative Office (KP) network, GI IDX, Capital Market Ambassador, IDX official social media, as well as various media channels that provide information about the Indonesian capital market.
In addition, the IDX also provides market data, analysis, educational materials, updates on the latest information that can be accessed at any time through the IDX Mobile application, which currently has more than 285 thousand users.
"Collaboration of content with influencers and the use of IDX KP social media throughout Indonesia is also carried out to expand the reach of capital market literacy," said Jeffrey.
He revealed that the number of GI IDX currently reaches almost 1,000, located in universities, schools, and agencies, and there are 6,000 Capital Market Ambassadors as important bridges between the academic world and the capital market.
"Through the IDX Investment Gallery and the Capital Market Ambassador, capital market education is present to remote areas," he said.
