JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI leads a syndicated credit or acts as a Mandated Lead Arrangers and Bookrunner (MLAB) in a syndicated credit agreement worth IDR 1.8 trillion. This loan was given to finance the construction of the electric car factory PT VinFast Automobile Indonesia.

The signing of the credit agreement was held in Jakarta, Thursday, April 24, 2025 between BNI represented by the BNI International and Financial Institutions Division Head Rima Cahyani, syndicated participating banks, and Deputy CEO VinFast Global Pham Thuy Linh.

Agung Prabowo said this collaboration is a tangible manifestation of BNI's commitment to the development of electric cars in Indonesia.

"It's not just about financing. It's about confidence in a bigger vision of innovation, sustainability and the future of the electric vehicle industry. This collaboration can take us to move faster, further and have a real impact," Agung said in a written statement, Friday, April 25.

Of the total syndicated loans worth Rp1.84 trillion, BNI took a portion of Rp1.51 trillion and the rest was PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk or Maybank Indonesia. This financing will be used by VinFast, an electric car manufacturer from Vietnam, for the construction of an electric vehicle factory in Subang, West Java.

"This factory is expected to be the production center for VinFast's electric vehicles for the domestic and export markets, as well as strengthen the supply chain of the national automotive industry," Agung explained.

According to him, the active involvement of financial institutions in financing the electric car industry will accelerate Indonesia's transformation towards a green and sustainable economy.

Previously, in March 2025, BNI and VinFast had also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the Vietnam-Indonesia high-level business dialogue with the theme "Vietnam-Indonesia: Partnership for Progress and Prosperity" in Jakarta.

Through this MoU, BNI is ready to provide support for consultation, experience and local insight, and facilitate access to banking transactional service products for VinFast and other companies in the Vingroup ecosystem.

In addition, BNI can also facilitate business partners in supporting VinFast's mission to accelerate green mobility and infrastructure development in Indonesia, while still complying with local regulations and conditions.
