The Minister Of PKP Has Spoken Out About Lippo Denying The Mangkrak Meikarta Project, This Is What He Said

JAKARTA - PT Lippo Cikarang Tbk (LPCK) claims, PT Mahkota Sentosa Utama (MSU) as the developer has started the handover process for the Meikarta Apartment unit which has been completed since 2020.

PT Lippo Cikarang Tbk Corporate Secretary Peter Adrian said, until March 2025, more than 60 percent of the units had been completed, with the overall development progress having reached around 75 percent.

"MSU is committed to completing all unitary development and handover obligations, in accordance with the provisions in the homologation decision which has permanent legal force," he wrote in an information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) website, quoted Tuesday, April 22.

Responding to this, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) said that his party would discuss this in detail with the leaders of Lippo Group James Riady and John Riady tomorrow.

"That's why, right, there needs to be clarification later, communication is needed. There is a need for communication, yes," said Ara in response to VOI's question at Wisma Mandiri, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 22.

Ara admitted that she had communicated with James Riady by telephone to discuss the Meikarta issue.

Ara said Lippo Group was committed to solving the problem.

"I've communicated with James, maybe three times a week I've been called. I told Mr. James, Mr. James is a big businessman, it's definitely important to have a reputation and I'm sure Mr. James wants to leave and defend that good name. And I got the answer 'yes I want to finish'," said Ara.

According to Ara, the government, in this case the Ministry of PKP, must be present to resolve the Meikarta issue.

Moreover, he continued, this case has been going on for quite a long time and there has been no resolution.

He added that the Ministry of PKP had also held discussions with Meikarta consumers.

Thus, said Ara, his party has received information or an overview regarding the problem.

"The important thing is that the principles of wanting to solve this problem are fair and open like yesterday. I'm clear, here you (Maykarta consumers) have paid off or not. Some are paid off, some are still in installments. You want to keep the apartment or money, you want money," said Ara.

"So, it is the positioning of the agreement. The government, right, must be fair, the problem period is long left alone. Shame, please, so the minister has problems in the housing sector and there is no problem," he continued.

When asked further whether Meikarta's problems could be resolved within three months, Ara said, Lippo Cikarang is committed to resolving it.

"From me, I'm sure Mr. James has good intentions. What are the details, I think we can talk to consensus deliberations," he said.
