JAKARTA - The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) has the opportunity to weaken in today's trading, Tuesday, April 8 which coincides with the first day of trading after the long Nyepi and Eid Al-Fitr 2025 holidays.

The majority of analysts say that the JCI movement is still overshadowed by negative sentiment from the effect of the US import rate policy targeting many countries, including Indonesia.

The potential for the weakening of the JCI can be seen along with the performance of the compact Asian stock exchange weakening on Monday, April 7, or when the Indonesian stock market was still closed off.

For example, Japan's Nikkei225 Index decreased 7.83 percent to the level of 31,136.58 on Monday. In addition, the Hang Seng Index Hong Kong was corrected 13.22 percent to the level of 19,774.53, while China's Shanghai Composite Index dropped 7.34 percent to the level of 3,096.58. Taiwan's TAIEX index also fell 9.70 percent to the level of 19,232.35.

Chief Executive Officer of Provincial Advisor, Visindo Praska Putrantyo, said that the performance of global and Asian stock markets was greatly influenced by the impact of the policy of imposing reciprocal rates from the US to all of its trading partners.

As a result of this policy, there was a massive sell-off in the global stock market, both in the US, Europe and Asia considering that investors anticipate the threat of a global economic recession.

"The potential for a global economic recession is due to a loss that occurs in line with the trade war, in which China has also given US a return rate," he said.

Praska said that the JCI has the potential to experience heavy trading again considering that the Indonesian stock market has increased by two consecutive days ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday at the end of March.

On the other hand, the Indonesian stock market did not experience selling pressure either on Friday, April 4 or Monday because trade was still on holiday.

That way, Praska predicts the JCI will be in the range of 6,045-6,100 in today's trading, Tuesday, April 8. It is also possible that the JCI will test the level in the range of 5,800 this week.
