The Owner Of Pondok Indah Mall Murdaya Poo Dies In Singapore

JAKARTA - Sad news came from the world of Indonesian property and business. Murdaya Widyawimarta Poo, the figure behind the splendor of Pondok Indah Mall, is reported to have died at the age of 84 in Singapore.

The death of Murdaya Poo was first informed through social media by the DKI Jakarta Regional Leadership Council for the Representative of Buddhists (DPD Walubi). Through uploads on their official Instagram account on Monday, April 7, 2025, Walubi expressed his deep sorrow for the passing of important figures among the Buddhists.

"We, the entire DPD WALUBI DKI Jakarta, with our deepest condolences for the passing of Mr. Murdaya Widyawimarta Po," they wrote in the upload.

A similar condolences were also conveyed by DPP Walubi through their digital channel. The institution prays for Murdaya to have the best place in her next life, while remembering her various contributions to the people and Buddhists in Indonesia.

"Sabbe Sankhara anicka, the entire Board of the Central Executive Board of Indonesian Buddhist Representatives, expressed his condolences for the death of Mr. Murdaya Widyawimarta Po, I hope that the virtue during the life of the deceased conditioned being born in a happy nature," wrote the upload on Instagram @dppwalubi_center.

Murdaya is known as the founder and main driver behind Central Cipta Murdaya (CCM), a large business group engaged in various sectors, ranging from construction, technology, palm oil, to the coating wood industry.

His business career began in the early 1970s in the construction sector. Over time, he formed a CCM Group that has successfully expanded its wings to various industrial sectors. One of his famous works is the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran which is now a strategic location for exhibitions and events on a national and international scale.

In the property sector, Murdaya is widely known for her involvement in Metropolitan Kentjana, a property development company that has successfully built and managed elite areas and well-known shopping centers, including Pondok Indah Mall (PIM) which became an icon of the capital's lifestyle.

In addition to his role as an entrepreneur, Murdaya Poo is also active in social and religious activities, especially in the Indonesian Buddhist community, which respects his dedication and work during his life.
