JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, revealed that electricity conditions on the island of Kalimantan are ensured safe during Ramadan and ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 2025.

"The capacity installed by Kalimantan compared to peak and backup expenses, is still a surplus of 38 percent. So overall, there is no problem," Bahlil said in a statement to the media, Thursday, March 20.

He said Kalimantan's Netto Ability Power (DMN) reached 3,334 MW, with a Peak Burden (BP) of 2,412 MW, so that the power reserve or Reserve Margin reached 922 MW or the equivalent of 38 percent.

In addition, the supply of fuel for power plants including coal, gas, and fuel, is also in a safe condition.

"We have checked the availability of fuel in the _power plant_. Thank God, there are no problems, because the average stock is sufficient for 20 to 30 days," he explained.

Nationally, the electricity supply is also in stable condition. Based on data from the National Electricity Map, the national DMN was recorded at 67,415 MW, with a peak load of 45,280 MW and a power reserve of 22,135 MW or around 49 percent.

"Overall, the condition of the generator, transmission, and national distribution is safe, with a power reserve of 49 percent," said Bahlil.

Bahlil admitted that he was impressed by the surge in the use of electric cars in Kalimantan.

Based on PT PLN (Persero) data, the number of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) has increased rapidly from 32 units in the Eid period in 2024 to 209 units in the 2025 Eid projection.

"I am quite surprised by the level of use of electric cars in Kalimantan. The SPKLU has increased approximately 6.5 times compared to last year," he said.

To anticipate this increase, PT PLN (Persero) continues to expand its supporting infrastructure for electric vehicles. Currently, there are 209 SPKLUs in 167 locations spread throughout Kalimantan, with an inter-SPKLU distance of about 40 kilometers.

"The goal is to ensure that electric car users have no trouble charging," Bahlil added.
