Jokowi Forms Ministry Of Investment, Bahlil: I Am Only Assistant To The President

JAKARTA - The Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia admitted that he was reluctant to comment on the formation of the Ministry of Investment. Because, he said, this was the prerogative of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as head of state.

As is well known, Jokowi is reportedly ready to carry out a cabinet reshuffle after the DPR approved the formation of a new ministry, namely the Ministry of Investment. In fact, the business community has also welcomed positively the establishment of the Ministry of Investment.

"I am an assistant to the President. So the matter is the policy of the President, apologize with all due respect, we are not in a position to explain because it is not the domain of BKPM," he said in a virtual press conference, Monday, April 26.

BKPM is mentioned as a filler for the agency, as well as Bahlil as its minister after the establishment of the Ministry of Investment was approved by the DPR. Responding to this, Bahlil said that as President Jokowi's assistant, his party was only carrying out orders, either according to the rules or orally.

"As helpers, you have to know yourself. That is the prerogative of the President. We are here to do what is assigned either in the rules or oral orders to maintain the investment climate and increase investment realization. And how to make it easier for all investors both from within and outside the country and encourage new businesses. , "he explained.

Previously, the Indonesian Parliament decided to form a new ministry, namely the Ministry of Investment. This was decided at the 16th Plenary Session, Friday, April 9. The decision is a follow-up to Presidential Letter Number R-14 / Pres / 03/2021 Concerning Ministry Inauguration Considerations.

Chairman of the Session as well as Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, Sufi Dasco Ahmad, said that the formation of the ministry was in order to attract investment which had an impact on job creation in the country.

"The formation of the Ministry of Investment is to increase investment and create jobs," said Dasco.
