Control Food Prices, Government Rely On Warehouse Receipt System

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade (Wamendag) Jerry Sambuaga revealed that the warehouse receipt system (SRG) has the potential to be an instrument in supporting stock availability control and price stability of food commodities.

According to him, the SRG can be an alternative instrument in supporting the trade and distribution system.

"SRG has the potential to become part of the national logistics and distribution system. So, in the future, it is hoped that it can be optimized to support stock availability control and food commodity price stability, ”he said as quoted on Monday, April 26.

The Vice Minister of Trade added that the SRG is also useful as an alternative to obtaining financing. He hopes that the participation of commodity business actors in utilizing SRG will increase.

In his notes, this increase had a direct impact on the value of SRG utilization in the last three years.

It was stated that, in 2020, the SRG transaction value reached IDR191.2 billion or grew by 71.9 percent.

Meanwhile, SRG-based financing in 2020 also experienced an increase. The value of disbursed financing reached Rp. 117.7 billion or rose 84.4 percent.

For information, some time ago, the Ministry of Trade has issued MOT 14/2021 on commodities that can be brooded.

In the regulation, there are two additional types of commodities that can be re-fermented, namely white crystal sugar and soybeans.

Until now, there are 20 commodities that can be farmed, consisting of agricultural or plantation commodities, livestock, marine or fisheries, and mining.

"During the pandemic, the SRG can protect business actors by providing stock management mechanisms and access to finance. Apart from that, it can also support the commodity business chain in Indonesia so that there is no stagnation that causes operations to stop, "explained the Vice Minister of Trade.

He also invited various parties to work together to optimize the use of the SRG to help restore the national economy.
