JAKARTA - The 2021 Top CSR Awards were awarded to a number of leading companies from various business sectors, at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, Ciputra World, 22 April. The theme raised by the award for 2021 is "The Strategic Role of CSR in Supporting Sustainable Business Continuity in the New Normality".

Several big names in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) emerged as winners. They include: PT Kideco Jaya Agung, PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero), PT Astra International Tbk, PT Bank Central Indonesia Tbk, Dharma Group, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, ExxonMobil, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), PT Bank Mandiri ( Persero) Tbk, PT Polytama Propindo, PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Sasa Inti, PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia, PT Asmin Bara Bronang, PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk, PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Jatim Tbk, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk.

TOP CSR Awards, held annually by Top Business Magazine, in collaboration with a number of institutions (National Committee on Governance Policy, Pakem Foundation, Dwika Consulting, Nawacita Research Institute, Sinergi Daya Prima, Mitra Bhadra Consulting, Business Performance Solutions, Indonesia Shared Value Institute, and others). This award is a continuation of similar awards given in previous years.

The head of the 2021 TOP CSR Awards organizer, Moh Lutfi Handayani, explained that this activity was attended by 150 finalist companies. That number increased 25% from 2020, which was as many as 120 finalists.

Hundreds of companies participate in the TOP CSR Awards every year. In addition to an objective and independent assessment process, each participant gets many benefits because they can be motivated and continue to learn and strive to improve the effectiveness and quality of their CSR programs.

Lutfi emphasized that the annual TOP CSR Awards is not only an event to give the highest award to companies that are considered successful in carrying out effective and quality CSR/TJSL/Community Development programs. However, according to him, it is also a means of learning together for the participants to improve the quality of the CSR program in supporting a sustainable business.

Deputy 7 of the State Intelligence Agency, Wawan Purwanto, in his remarks said that sustainable development is the responsibility of all parties. Community development is the obligation of all parties.

"With corporate CSR, in a sense, the community will feel protected. We really need to overcome social conflicts. CSR also strengthens the company's reputation," said Wawan.

As for the Director-General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ridwan Jamaluddin said that CSR must be right on target to the community.

"Whatever the business sector, CSR must be felt by the community. Meanwhile, for the Indonesian government, CSR is a form of the responsibility of mining companies to the community," he said.
