JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) asked the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to conduct an audit of strategic programs and policies in the housing and residential sector.
Ara said this step is part of the commitment of the Ministry of PKP to maintain good governance in the development of public housing, especially in programs funded by the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
"We want to ensure that every rupiah allocated for the housing sector really provides maximum benefits for the community. Therefore, we proactively ask the BPK to conduct audits and provide recommendations for improvements if needed," said Ara in a written statement, Tuesday, February 18.
Ara did not deny that the mandate given by President Prabowo Subianto to the Ministry of PKP to build three houses in a year also has risks to think about.
Thus, said Ara, strict supervision and audits are needed from the BPK.
"It is undeniable that this large target is also full of risks that must be considered. We ask the BPK to conduct an audit of the development we have carried out. It can audit the construction of flats, special houses, Housing Financing Liquidity Facilities (FLPP) and so on. So that we work more fairly," said Ara.
