Up 299 Percent, PLN Calls The Number Of SPKLU Capai 3,233 Units Throughout Indonesia

PT PLN (Persero) increased the number of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) by 299 percent or from 1,081 units in 2023 to 3,233 units throughout 2024.

Not only that, the number of Home Charging Services (HCS) facilities also jumped 302 percent, from 9,393 units in 2023 to a total of 28,356 units in 2024. Then, PLN also increased the number of Public Electricity Charging Stations (SPLU) which rose to 9,956 units in 2024 to ensure that the EV ecosystem was getting stronger.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo said, in addition to increasing the number of infrastructure, the number of transactions and electricity consumption from EVs also experienced significant growth throughout 2024.

"This can be seen from the increase in the number of transactions at SPKLU which jumped by 337 percent to 402,509 transactions compared to 2023 which was 119,600 transactions," said Darmawan, Monday, February 10.

In addition, from the total existing SPKLU, it was recorded that the electricity consumption absorbed by EVs also increased rapidly by 370 percent, from 2.4 million kilowatt hour (kWh) in 2023 to 9.1 million kWh in 2024.

Then from SPLU it grew 176 percent, from 7.3 million kWh in 2023 to 12.8 million kWh in 2024, while from HCS it jumped to 403 percent, from 2.9 million kWh in 2023 to 11.8 million kWh in 2024.

Darmawan continued, during 2024 PLN continued to boost the development of charging EV supporting infrastructure and encourage the massive use of electric vehicles. This is realized through the support of electric vehicle charging facilities at various strategic points, such as shopping centers, business centers and offices, in tourist destination locations, to along the homecoming route. He ensured that PLN would continue to increase the number of SPKLUs that have now been spread across 2,306 locations throughout Indonesia.

The most significant increase in the number of SPKLUs occurred along the Trans Java and Trans Sumatra routes. In order to meet the needs of EV drivers on main routes, it is recorded that PLN has provided 500 SPKLU units in 297 locations along the Trans Java and Trans Sumatra routes.

PLN wants to ensure that EV users in Indonesia can make as comfortable trips as possible. In this case, we have analyzed the consumption patterns of SPKLU users and mapped them from the previous year, including the increasing use of SPKLU along the Trans Java and Trans Sumatra routes," said Darmawan.
