PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) also involved the community in collecting Used Cooking Oil (UCO) or crude oil which will be used as the raw material for the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

"Through the Cilacap Refinery, we are developing a waste bank empowerment program for Beo Asri. This Beo Asri program is a leading KPI initiative aimed at supporting environmental conservation as well as encouraging community economic empowerment," said KPI Corporate Secretary, Hermansyah Y Nasroen, Monday, January 20.

He explained that this waste bank program also focuses on collecting broken oil from organized households in 2,978 families (KK) consisting of 10 RWs in Tegalreja Village.

This program, said Hermansyah, has a positive impact on the environment. Structured waste oil management can minimize environmental pollution, especially in water sources that are often polluted by random disposal.

"With an average collection of 200 liters of refined oil per month, this program is one of the real contributions to reducing environmental pollution so that it is in line with KPI's commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability," continued Hermansyah.

Through the development of crude oil collection based on the management of the assisted waste bank, there is the potential for collaboration with 40 waste banks in Cilacap to be involved in this collection of jelantah oil. Thus, there is the potential for collecting 1 Ton of Crude Oil per month from the Cilacap City Community.

In addition to having a positive impact on the environment, this program also provides direct economic benefits to the inmates.

"During the implementation of the program, there was an economic increase during 2024 in the community involved. This shows that the management of jelantah oil can be a business opportunity and an additional source of income for the people involved," explained Hermansyah.

Hermansyah also emphasized KPI's commitment to continue to support sustainability-based programs, both from an environmental and economic perspective.

"We hope that this program can be an inspiration for other communities to contribute to protecting the environment and utilizing local economic potential," concluded Hermansyah.
