Grain HPP Increases To IDR 6,500 Per Kg, HET Rice Is Confirmed Not To Change

JAKARTA - The government has officially decided that the purchase price of the government (HPP) of unhulled rice will increase to Rp6,500 per kilogram (kg) which is effective starting January 15, 2025. The selection of good unhulled HPPs, but it is certain that the highest retail price (HET) of rice has not changed.

Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi revealed that although there was an increase in the HPP of grain, the government had not yet held discussions to increase rice prices.

Furthermore, Arief said that today's HET rice is still the same at Rp. 14,900 per kilogram (kg) for premium rice.

There has been no decision regarding the HET increase. Yesterday, the price of unhulled rice was also above Rp. 6,000 to Rp. 7,000. I mean, with the price of HET of Rp. 14,900 today, it is still Rp. 14,900," he said when met at Graha Mandiri, Jakarta, Monday, January 6.

Arief said the HPP of unhulled rice amounting to Rp6,500 was the purchase price by Bulog. He said the reason HPP went up was because the previous price was Rp6,000 per kg, making the absorption of grain not optimal.

"Yesterday the reason was because the milled dry unhulled rice was Rp. 6,000 per kg. Now Bulog has increased by Rp. 6,500 per kg to the same as the actual market," he explained.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs (Menko Pangan) Zulkifli Hasan said that farmers could sell unhulled rice for IDR 6,500 per kg starting January 15, 2025. Prior to that date, the HPP of unhulled rice was still at IDR 6,000 per kg.

"So it was decided when to apply the purchase price of the government (HPP) of unhulled rice, effective rice on January 15," he said.

For your information, the highest retail prices (HET) of premium rice in Java, Lampung, South Sumatra, Sulawesi, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara are IDR 14,900 per kg.

Meanwhile, the areas of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Riau Islands, Riau, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Kalimantan, and East Nusa Tenggara are IDR 15,400 per kg. Meanwhile, for Maluku and Papua areas amounted to IDR 15,800 per kg.

For HET, medium rice in Java, Lampung, South Sumatra, Sulawesi, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara is IDR 12,500 per kg.

Meanwhile, in the areas of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Riau Islands, Riau, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Kalimantan, and East Nusa Tenggara are IDR 13,100 per kg. Meanwhile, Maluku and Papua amounted to IDR 13,500 per kg.
