PTDI Focuses On Strengthening Technology And Export Innovations In 2025

JAKARTA - PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) stated that it will focus on technological innovation, strengthen exports, and contribute to the national defense independence effort by 2025.

"PTDI strengthens its commitment to providing quality and competitive aircraft products, accompanied by the latest technological innovations and efforts to develop the aerospace ecosystem. So that it does not only make the best contribution to the nation, but also encourages the progress and optimization of the domestic industry with new enthusiasm and optimism," said the President Director of PTDI, Gita Amperiawan in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 2.

As the only aircraft manufacturer in Indonesia and Southeast Asia with CN235-220 and NC212i products, he said, PTDI carried out various marketing efforts to obtain new contracts, both for the domestic market, especially in meeting Alpalhankam's planned needs in 2025-2029, as well as foreign markets.

In the global market, Gita continued, CN235-220 aircraft have been operated in various countries such as Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, South Korea, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Senegal and Nepal.

"Thanks to the support from the previous President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, in January 2024, PTDI can penetrate the acquisition of new contracts in the Philippines, which directly recommends CN235-220 aircraft with an MPA/ASW configuration to the Philippine Minister of Defense for the Philippine Navy. Meanwhile, the domestic market for CN235 aircraft is still needed to meet the needs of the Alpalhankam of the Republic of Indonesia," said Gita.

Meanwhile, the NC212i aircraft, he said, continued to strengthen PTDI's contribution in meeting the needs of the national defense equipment, with the current date, the new NC212i aircraft contract between PTDI and the Ministry of Defense is in the assessment stage.

"This is a form of PTDI's commitment as a strategic partner of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense in providing defense and defense products in the new era of President Prabowo Subianto," he said.

Recently, he said, PTDI has also explored cooperation with PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal and PT Semwa Aviasi Mandiri (SAM Air) on November 22, 2024, which was confirmed through Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) documents for the purchase of 12 units of PTDI-produced aircraft, which includes two NC212 series aircraft to support the national food security program, especially in supporting food distribution to remote areas through pioneering routes that are difficult to access in Eastern Indonesia.

The two NC212i aircraft are planned to be used aircraft that have been operated by previous operators and will be refurbished by PTDI as a bridging mode for logistics transportation before sending the first unit of the N219 aircraft.

As for now, said Gita, PTDI is completing the production of one unit of CN235-220 Military Transport (N71 serial number) aircraft for the end user of the Indonesian Navy and the NC212i 7th unit of the total procurement contract of nine units for the end user of the Indonesian Air Force.

Currently, the CN235-220 (N71) aircraft has completed a Critical Design Review (CDR) and has entered the Fuselage Integration stage at the Major Assembly Line hangar, which will then be continued with the work of the Basic Airframe. As for the NC212i 7th unit of the Indonesian Air Force, the production is planned to be completed in February 2025.

"The year 2025 is a momentum for PTDI to prove that it is ready to face a brighter future. From the contracts that we have managed to obtain in the past three years, as well as various strategic collaborations that have been established, not only with domestic partners, but also with several global key players in the aerospace industry. We hope that the existence of PTDI can encourage progress and have a good impact on the revival of the Indonesian aerospace industry," said Gita.

Not Only Airplanes

In the future, said Gita, not only with aircraft products, PTDI will also maximize the optimization of the production capacity of weapons systems.

Given, PTDI's capabilities in the production and assembly of weapons systems have gained licenses since 1982 from FZ Thales Belgium, part of Thales Group which specializes in technological innovation of weapons, including the integration of rocket systems with various platforms to support military and defense operations.

Located in the Tasikmalaya III Production Area (KP), PTDI conducts Rocket production with a production capacity of 10,000 units/year and Warhead with a production capacity of 5,000 units/year, including with thering Control System and its integration.

With all these capabilities, added Gita, PTDI is ready to support the fulfillment of the needs of the TNI's Alutsista and invite all elements of the nation to unite to support this strategic step.
