New Record! Aircraft Ticket Prices Experience 1.59 Percent Deflation

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that there was a deflation at the air or aircraft transport ticket rate of 1.59 percent on a monthly basis (month-to-month) in December 2024.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics of BPS, Pudji Ismartin, said this was the impact of the government's policy of lowering plane ticket prices for the Christmas and New Year's purchase period which was valid for 16 days at the end of 2024.

Just so you know, previously the government lowered the ticket tariff for rerbang aircraft for flights from December 19, 2024 to January 3, 2025.

"Based on BPS records, the impact of this policy can be seen from the month to month deflation of the air transportation tariff commodity, which is 1.59 percent and the deflation contribution is 0.01 percent in December," said Pudji at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, January 2.

Pudji explained, based on BPS records, there is generally inflation of transportation groups at every national religious holiday, both at Lebaran and Christmas. At Christmas every December, the inflation rate for this group is usually in the range of 0.45 to 0.62 percent.

"During the last 5 years, generally in December there was inflation and in December 2024 we saw no inflation," said Pudji.
