Tourist Visits To Indonesia Drop 8.53 Percent In November 2024

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that foreign tourist visits (tourists) to Indonesia in November were more than 1 million. However, this figure has decreased by 8.53 percent compared to October 2024.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics of BPS, Pudji Ismartini, said that monthly foreign tourists visiting had decreased. However, this number increased when compared to the same period the previous year.

In November 2024, foreign tourist visits in Indonesia reached 1.09 million visits. This number decreased by 8.53 percent compared to October 2024, but rose 17.27 percent compared to the same month last year," he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Thursday, January 2.

Based on the type of entrance, he said, the number of foreign tourist visits in November 2024 through the main entrance was 940,570 visits and the border entrance was 151,500 visits.

"The number of visits through the main entrance is dominated by foreign tourists with air transportation modes which contribute 80.48 percent, while foreign tourists with sea and land transportation modes are only 15.96 percent and 3.56 percent, respectively," he said.

Furthermore, he said that cumulatively or throughout January to November 2024, visits reached 12,658,048 visits, an increase of 20.17 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

"The achievement of foreign tourist visits from January to November 2024 is the highest achievement in the last 5 years," he said.

Pudji said that in terms of nationality, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia during November 2024 was dominated by Malaysian tourists as many as 174,270 visits or 15.96 percent.

"Followed by Australian foreign tourists as many as 129,530 visits or 11.86 percent, Singaporean foreign tourists as much as 120,450 or 11.03 percent, and foreign tourists as many as 85,260 or 7.81 percent," he said.
