JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) welcomes the capital market education initiative to enter the elementary school curriculum (SD).

Chief Executive of Financial Services Business Behavior Supervisory, Education and Consumer Protection OJK Frederica Widyasari Dewi explained that several member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have included financial material as part of their school curriculum.

According to Frederica, his party has collaborated with the Ministry of Education to develop this, with the hope that this material can be applied starting from elementary, junior high, high school, to tertiary levels in financial management.

"We are trying, so we have often collaborated with the Ministry of Education, many times, but we hope to enter the curriculum. So we enter the school Curriculum, if possible starting from elementary schools, the introduction of money, financial management, from junior high school, high school, college," said the woman who is familiarly called Kiki after the opening of the first trading of the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2025, Thursday, January 2.

In addition, Kiki said, his party will also coordinate with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Pratikno and the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Abdul Muti as well as the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro to discuss further about these opportunities.

Kiki added that his party is ready to provide the materials needed because the financial management skills must be owned by everyone, not only for those who work in the economic sector.

"If we prepare the material, so later if it is well received, we will be very happy. For what reason? Because financial management capabilities must be owned," he said.

According to him, financial education for the community is very important to do whatever the profession is in order to understand the importance of investment, insurance, and pension funds.

"So I'm really happy that Mrs. Sri Mulyani said that and she's been with us for a long time, since I've been on the Exchange, so she always supports literacy education for students. And I know her son. From a young age, he has been taught for stocks and others," he said.

In addition, Kiki said that his party had also collaborated with the Ministry of Education in capital market education through various programs, such as Training for Trainers for teachers.

"Hopefully, from elementary school we will get to know each other, (2025) Amen, amen, please pray. If that's the case, we are very happy. We have had programs, training for coaches for teachers. That's a lot of our programs with the Ministry of Education, Training for Trainers for Teachers," he said.

However, Kiki said the program is still sporadic and has not been officially structured in the curriculum and hopes that in the future this program can be more systematic and measurable.
