Minister Of Public Works Hopes Development Of SPAM Karian-Serpong Can Start Next Year

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo hopes that the Karian-Serpong Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) can be built starting in 2025.

"God willing. There are still several things that we must harmonize," said Dody as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 27.

He said the Ministry of Public Works must be able to ensure that drinking water, especially in DKI Jakarta, can be supplied properly and properly.

So then at some point a rule can be issued in which people are no longer allowed to take groundwater, for example.

The Ministry of Public Works is trying to achieve the target by 2030 where the people of Jakarta will no longer suck up groundwater, considering the impact of using groundwater causing land subsidence in Jakarta.

SPAM Regional Karian-Serpong is a drinking water facility that will serve South Tangerang City, Tangerang City and DKI Jakarta.

The scope in collaboration includes the construction of a 4.600 l/second water treatment installation (IPA) with a capacity of 4.200 l/second, construction of a 25.2 km bulk drinking water transmission pipe, a main reservoir with a capacity of 10,000 m3, a bulk drinking water transmission pump and an off-take handover point.

The Regional Karian-Serpong SPAM project can later provide 4,600 l/second of bulk drinking water to three regions, including DKI Jakarta Province of 3,200 liters/second, Tangerang City of 750 liters/second, and South Tangerang City of 650 liters/second.

For information, the Karian-Serpong Regional SPAM project is the second project for Regional SPAM which is the central authority, after the Jatiluhur I Regional SPAM.

The Regional Jatiluhur I Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) itself has officially entered the commercial operational stage on December 18, 2024.

SPAM Regional Jatiluhur I is an unsolicited Government and Business Entity Cooperation Project (KPBU) which began construction on January 19, 2022.

This project is designed to meet the needs of quality drinking water for people in Jakarta, City and Bekasi Regency and Karawang Regency.

Regional SPAM Jatiluhur I has a total capacity of 4,750 liters per second which will be distributed to 380,000 Home Connections (SR) to be enjoyed by 1.9 million people in Jakarta (4,000 l/second), Bekasi City (300 l/second), Bekasi Regency (100 l/second) and Karawang Regency (350 l/second). Water distribution absorption is planned to be carried out in stages in the next 5 years.
