Minister Of KKP: Fish Stocks From Karangsong Can Supply Christmas And New Year's Moments Needs

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono ensured that fish supply and prices at the Karangsong Fishery Port in Indramayu Regency, West Java, were safe and able to supply necessities during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays.

Trenggono after reviewing fish stocks in Indramayu, West Java, Thursday, December 26, revealed that Karangsong Port is able to send around 14 tons of fish every day to Muara Baru, the largest fish distribution center in Jakarta.

In addition, Karangsong also sent about 5 to 10 tons of fish to Bandung and other areas of West Java.

"This supply is certain to be sufficient, every day around 14 tons, only 14 tons are sent from here to Muara Baru. There are also approximately 5 tons, 10 tons, yes. That's what goes to Bandung and West Java," Trenggono said, quoted by Antara.

Trenggono monitors the loading and unloading activities of fish at the fishery port and directly checks the fish supply in the area's cold storage.

He said that he received direct orders from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto to monitor fishery production centers throughout Indonesia so that they remain capable during Christmas and New Year.

"So, in accordance with the orders of the President (Prabowo Subianto) of course, I toured the centers of fishery production. So one of them is in West Java, the northern part is in Karangsong," he said.

Karangsong Port is known as one of the largest production centers for fishing fish in West Java, especially in the northern part of the province.

Trenggono emphasized the importance of ensuring the supply of fish in this area remains stable, given Karangsong's great role in meeting fish needs in various regions.

According to Trenggono, the stock of fish in Karangsong is confirmed to be full and the price of fish is in stable condition.

He also added that the Christmas and New Year holiday season, including the Eid celebration, is an important time for fishermen, because fish demand tends to increase.

However, with sufficient supply, this will not interfere with price stability and the availability of fish in the market.

Minister Trenggono explained that the distribution of fish from Karangsong Port is not only ready to meet local demand in Indramayu and West Java, but also for other areas outside West Java.

Therefore, he ensures that fish supplies will remain available at the points needed, especially ahead of the year-end long holiday.

"So it means that at certain points where necessary, we are ready, there is no problem," said Trenggono.

It is known that fishermen in the area are auctioning off their fish at TPI Karangsong through KPL Mina Sumitra. After the fish are sold, the fish baskets/buyers will distribute their fish to restaurants, PT, home industries, and stored in cooling warehouses.

The status of the rental fish, with the Cold Storage Mina Sumitra Karangsong rental system per day, is charged a tariff of IDR 50 per kg.

Most of the buyers (owners/backers) of fish who left fish at the Mina Sumitra Karangsong Cold Storage come from Indramayu, which already has more customers/calon buyers such as restaurants/PT/industry for home processing such as jambal bread, krumpuk factories and others.

Fish in the area were sent to Indramayu, Jakarta, Pangandaran, Pati, Juwana, to Semarang. The fish turnover in one day reaches 47-160 tons both in and out fish.

The production of PP Karangsong fish catch for the January-December 2024 period was recorded at 25,542,879 kg from 315 ships.

The types of fish produced and the average producer price are gray tuna Rp14,000 per kg, manyung Rp19,900 per kg, tuna banyar Rp10,600 per kg, grandson mako Rp17,100 per kg, tenggiri Rp36,300 per kg, and kuwe Rp25,300 per kg.
