Minister Of Manpower Yassierli: Layoff Workers Given JKP Stimulus To Pre-Employment

JAKARATA - Minister of Manpower Yassierli said workers affected by layoffs (PHK) will be given a stimulus in the form of job loss guarantees (JKP), training benefits of IDR 2.4 million, as well as easy access to pre-employment programs.

"We will provide stimulus for workers who have layoffs, both material and non-matter," Yassierli said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 16.

Stimulus in the form of guarantees of job loss or JKP is a cash benefit of 60 percent of wages for 6 months.

The government will also provide training benefits of IDR 2.4 million, along with the convenience of laid-off workers to access job information.

In addition, Yassierli continued, it will make it easier to access pre-employment programs.

"With this, we hope workers can increase their chances of returning to work by taking advantage of JKP's claim benefits," he said.

These various stimuli, he said, also aim to maintain the purchasing power of workers when they are laid off.

The stimulus is not limited to workers who are laid off from labor-intensive sectors.

The stimulus applies to workers who are laid off from all sectors.

Yassierli said, the benefits will temporarily apply throughout 2025.

"While we designed it that much (2025)," he said.

The government has officially set an increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) rates of 12 percent starting January 1, 2025.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the determination of VAT was 12 percent in accordance with Law (UU) Number 7 of 2021 concerning Harmonization of Tax Regulations (HPP).

One of the compensations prepared by the government for the increase in VAT is the extension of the job loss guarantee claim period (JKP) from 3 months after layoffs to 6 months after layoffs.

The cash benefits, which are now given 45 percent of wages for three months and 25 percent of wages for three months, will be increased to 60 percent for six months.
