JAKARTA - The Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarder Association (DPW ALFI) Jakarta requested that a review of the implementation of the Cibitung-Cilincing toll tariff which was considered too expensive.

The chairman of DPW ALFI Jakarta Adil Karim stated that the high tariff hampered the main goal of building the 34-kilometer toll road, namely to facilitate the distribution of logistics between industrial estates in Cibitung and Tanjung Priok Port.

"The high rate of tariff encourages logistics actors to choose the cheaper Cikampek-Priok toll road. This is contrary to the initial purpose of building the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road," Adil said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 12.

According to Adil, by not switching logistics vehicles to the Cibitung-Cilincing toll road, congestion on the Cikampek toll road is also not decomposed so that the new toll function is not optimal.

Therefore, he asked the government to recall the main principle of the existence of toll roads, namely facilitating logistics access from ports to industrial areas or vice versa.

"This toll road is actually a new burden for logistics business actors, with such a high rate. Just imagine, for class II and III vehicles, for example, the 34-kilometer toll road fare reaches Rp. 102,500. Meanwhile, class III vehicles at JORR 1 which are 66 kilometers are only Rp. 25,000. This is very lame," he said.

He said at a high rate, the operational costs of logistics companies remained high.

"In fact, at this time we are all committed to reducing logistics costs in all lines," said Adil.

ALFI also considers that the function of toll roads to reduce travel time and the cost of distributing goods has not been achieved.

To overcome this problem, DPW ALFI Jakarta asked the government and toll road managers to immediately open a dialogue with logistics actors.

Rating adjustments are considered important so that the existence of this toll road really provides optimal benefits for the national logistics sector.
