OJK Increases The Role Of Financial Services Supervision

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to strengthen its duties and functions in supervising and regulating the financial services sector and protecting consumers, as well as supporting regional economic development through the addition of OJK offices in various regions in Indonesia.

To support this effort, OJK inaugurated the Banten Province OJK Office which is located on Jalan Lieutenant Djidun Number 35, Serang City, Friday as well as inaugurating the Head of OJK Banten Province, which is held by Adi Dharma.

"The Banten Province OJK office is the first new representative office established by the OJK since the OJK was formed in 2014. The establishment of the Banten Province OJK Office is a form of OJK's commitment to carrying out regulatory, supervision, consumer protection duties and strengthening and developing the financial services sector as mandated in the law," said OJK Board of Commissioners Chairman Mahendra Siregar quoting Antara.

Mahendra emphasized the importance of collaboration between regional OJK and local governments in strengthening the supervision of the financial services industry as well as encouraging sustainable regional growth and economic development.

Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of Banten Province Al Muktabar represented by the Acting Regional Secretary of Banten Province Usman Asshiddiq Qohara appreciated the existence of OJK in Banten Province and supported OJK's efforts to strengthen the role of financial service institutions in supporting regional economic growth.

"We welcome the inauguration of the Banten Province OJK Office and hope that a strong synergy between the Banten Provincial Government and the OJK can be established to increase the understanding and utilization of financial products and services by the community. This is becoming increasingly important in the midst of the rapid development of digital financial technology today," said Usman.

The inauguration was carried out by the Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar and attended by Member of Commission XI DPR RI Annisa Maharani Alzahra Mahesa, member of Committee 4 DPD-RI Banten Province Habib Ali Alwi, Acting Regional Secretary of Banten Province Usman Asshiddiqi Qohara, as well as representatives from local governments, Regional Apparatus Organizations, vertical agencies and financial service institutions in Banten Province.
