Minister Of Public Works Regarding The Implementation Of The Toll Payment System Without Touching This Year: No More Talk

JAKARTA - The government plans to test the toll pay system without stopping or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) this year.

However, until now there has been no 'green light' from the government, in this case the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to make it happen.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo did not comment much when asked by the media crew regarding the continuation of the implementation of MLFF in Indonesia. He considered that there had been no further discussion regarding this matter.

"Not yet. There has been no more talk (related to its implementation)," said Dody when met at the PU Ministry office, Jakarta, Friday, December 6.

Currently, the government itself is still in the negotiation stage with Hungary, as well as PT Roatex Indonesia Tol System (RITS) as the implementing business entity (BUP). This negotiation has been running since a few months ago.

According to Dody, the discussion on the implementation of MLFF is quite long. However, he did not explain further regarding the discussion in question.

"Not yet, that's the story (related to MLFF) not long enough," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the implementation of the MLFF toll transaction system was carried out in stages on the Indonesia toll road starting at the end of 2024.

"From the results of the trial in December 2023 on the Bali Mandara toll road, there are still several things that must be evaluated, including technical and managerial. Currently there is a solution from the managerial side. I am optimistic that MLFF will be implemented in stages with a single lane or hybrid still with an (e-toll) card," said Basuki Hadimuljono in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 29.

Meanwhile, President Director of Roatex Indonesia Toll System Attila Keszeg as the Implementing Business Entity for the MLFF-Based Contactless Non-Cash Toll Transaction System revealed that it continues to work closely with PUPR intensively to start implementing the MLFF stage at the end of this year.

"This project is a technological transformation on toll roads, especially in payment transactions. We continue to work with PUPR intensively to start implementing the MLFF stage at the end of 2024," said Attila.
