IDX Agrees With President Prabowo's Statement Calling Small Investors Playing Stocks Like Gambling

JAKARTA - Director of Development of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX) Jeffrey Hendrik said that his party agreed with President Prabowo's statement that small investors who play stocks are like gambling.

"I totally agree with the message conveyed by the President," he said in his statement, Wednesday, December 4.

According to Jeffrey, investors must pay attention to the company's fundamentals in making decisions rationally.

"We always convey the same thing that investors must always make decisions rationally by paying attention to the company's fundamentals," said Jeffrey

Jeffrey believes that investing in stocks cannot only rely on influencer recommendations or certain formulas without understanding the fundamentals of the company to be purchased and this is not a wise step in investing.

"Decisions based solely on influencer recommendations or certain formulas without understanding the fundamentals of the shares to be purchased are not wise decisions," he said.

Previously in a video circulating on social media, Prabowo talked about the initial challenges when presenting a number of excellent programs such as eating nutrition for free and being threatened by a number of parties that his shares would go down because of that.

Prabowo emphasized that he does not play stocks and so does the people in rural areas who also rarely own shares.

"I don't have any shares, I say, and the people in the villages also don't have shares, right, if the shares fall, yes, the stock exchange players, who plays the stock exchange here, let's admit it," he said when opening the 2-12th Tanwir and Milad Muhammadiyah.

Prabowo explained that if the share price fell, the impact would be more felt by capital market players and some of his friends, including a matematic expert who plays stocks, have his own calculations or algorithms in making his decisions.

"You know there are no my friends who are mathematicians. Now he wants to use an algorithm but I see his life is stressed. Every second you look at the TV, see what it is, the stock price is down 0.0, Wow, panic, count again, live stress, I don't want to," said Prabowo.

"I'll tell you if you play with it, if you are small, you will lose, that's usually the same for small people as gambling, it's a big strong city, right," he added.
