Bitcoin Reaches All-Time-High Price To IDR 1.5 Billion, Up 13 Billion Percent In The Last 14 Years

JAKARTA - The first and largest crypto assets, namely Bitcoin (BTC), continued to break records by breaking the price of 99.655 US dollars or Rp. 1,579,731,000.

Bitcoin is currently among the top 10 most valuable assets in the world and is in 7th position with a market capitalization of $1.824 trillion. That way, Bitcoin is superior to Saudi oil giant Aramco, silver and Meta company owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

"There are many factors driving the increase in the price of Bitcoin, including the victory of Donald Trump to become the 47th President of the United States (US), the inflow of money from BTC ETF products reached 2 billion US dollars, the resignation of the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of the US Gary Gensler, to the positive macroeconomic data, especially in the US, which has increased investor interest in investing in Bitcoin," said Head of Product Marketing. According to data from Triple-A, the number of people who have crypto assets worldwide continues to grow. In 2023 the number is around 420 million people, then in 2024 it has increased to 34 percent or reached 562 million people.

"Crypto investors who fall into the retail category often ask when is the right time to invest in Bitcoin, especially because of the volatility and assumption that the price of Bitcoin is too high. However, after reaching its highest price at 69 thousand US dollars in November 2021, Bitcoin is again showing its resilience by almost approaching the price of 100 thousand US dollars. This proves the role of Bitcoin as a hedge asset (store of value) and has the potential to provide higher yields than other assets," said Iskandar.

When compared with two investment instruments, such as gold and Indonesia's Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), Bitcoin has been superior in terms of return of investment (ROI) in the last 14 years. The price per gram of gold in early 2009 was around IDR 322 thousand and in 2024 it reached IDR 1,399,000 or recorded ROI 334.26 percent. On the other hand, Indonesia's JCI in 2009 was around 1,355 points and in 2024 as of November 25 it was at the level of 7,200 points or ROI in the range of 431.37 percent.

When compared to ROI Bitcoin is very far away. Since its launch in 2009, Bitcoin has only been worth around US$10,000764 per BTC or at a current exchange rate of Rp10 thousand, the price of BTC is only around Rp7.64. Going to 14 years in 2024, the price of BTC touched 99.655 US dollars equivalent to Rp1,579.731,000 which means the percentage increase is 13 billion percent.
