PLN Reveals Strategy To Attract Green Investment Through EBT Development

JAKARTA - President Commissioner of PT PLN (Persero) Burhanuddin Abdullah revealed PLN's strategy to attract green investment through the development of New and Renewable Energy (EBT), in order to support the acceleration of the sustainable energy transition in Indonesia.

"We are carrying out various strategic steps to attract investment in the development of New and Renewable Energy," said Burhanuddin in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, November 25.

Burhanuddin conveyed this at the opening of a talk show entitled "8 percent Economic Growth and Energy Transition: Challenges and Opportunities" at the 2024 Electricity Connect event series in Jakarta.

Burhanuddin explained that through the presence of various investments in the development of EBT in the country, energy transition efforts will have a positive impact on national economic growth.

"Together, we are trying to explore and develop an EBT project financing solution that is in line with our commitment to a smooth and sustainable energy transition towards a carbon-low future," explained Burhanuddin.

He explained that PLN continues to collaborate in creating technological innovations to support the development of EBT while increasing domestic capacity significantly in Indonesia.

"One of the important steps is the construction of international standard solar panel manufacturing facilities. This facility is not only aimed at reducing dependence on imports, but also strengthening the domestic industry and creating green jobs," he explained.

Furthermore, he also puts forward the importance of creating a conducive investment climate amidst global uncertainty.

According to him, in the midst of global uncertainty, his party is aware of the challenges in attracting investment. Transparency, regulation and open communication are the keys in building trust and increasing investor confidence in the EBT sector.

In a increasingly dynamic world, Burhanuddin also invites his staff to continue to consistently transform into more adaptive.

He said that his party encouraged PLN's board of directors to adopt a management style that was responsive to change and innovative, especially in the use of artificial technology and intelligence to increase operational efficiency and attract investment in the development of EBT.

In order for PLN to continue to lead the energy transition effectively, he also ensures that the company's financial position can continue to be strong and supported by flexibility in managing resources independently.

He stated that over the years, PLN has consistently broken the company's profit record. This financial foundation needs to be strengthened so that it can encourage EBT projects, accelerate the shift to environmentally friendly energy as well as contribute significantly to Indonesia's sustainability goals.

Burhanuddin also encourages the use of digital platforms that are able to identify detailed EBT project data in order to attract more confidence from investors.

"We are preparing a digital platform that can be accessed in real time and transparently. That way it will attract investors because it can outline in detail the potential, risks and funding needs of each EBT development project," said Burhanuddin.
