Government Prepares 60 Ha Land To Build Residential Housing At Manggarai Station

JAKARTA - The government plans to build station attached housing or called transit-oriented development (TOD) on land around Manggarai Station, South Jakarta. This stationary settlement will be built in an area of about 60 hectares (ha).

The plan was revealed by Deputy Minister of BUMN Kartika Wirjoatmodjo after meeting with the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait at the Ministry of SOEs Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20.

We will expand. Earlier there were several lands that we will try to plan in Manggarai, Manggarai covering an area of 60 hectares, the largest. We'll see," said Tiko.

Not only in Manggarai, Tiko said this TOD residence will also be built outside Jakarta. There are two targeted locations, namely around Gubeng Surabaya Station and Kiaracondong Station, Bandung, West Java.

"In Surabaya, we will prepare it in Gubeng, and in Bandung, it is in Kiaracondong. That may be a pilot of three that we will expand on a large scale," he said.

"So that's the TOD concept, where later, like in Margonda, between the apartment and our station, so that people can directly get access to the train as well. Well, we will be together with the Minister of PKP," he continued.

Tiko said that to realize this plan, his party would also coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation. Given that this TOD-concept housing will be built around the station area.

"Then also with the Minister of Transportation, we will arrange who has assets at this station," he explained.
