EAST KALIMANTAN As a concrete effort to preserve the environment and improve the quality of critical land, PT Surya Artha Nusantara Finance (SANF) together with Astra Insurance held a planting program of more than 600 productive trees in Sesulu Village, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan.

This program is in line with the government's commitment to restore degraded land and strengthen the quality of life of the local community, according to a press release received on Saturday, November 16.

This activity is not just an action to plant trees; this is a strategic step in restoring ecological functions and increasing soil productivity. By planting Jabon, Mangga, and Kelengkeng trees, SANF and Astra Insurance hope to reduce erosion, improve soil structure, increase vegetation, and absorb carbon emissions that affect climate change.

The village head of Sesulu, H. Rahman, positively welcomed this initiative.

"We are very grateful to SANF and Astra Insurance for this anticipatory step. This land reclamation program is very important to support environmental sustainability and have a positive social and economic impact on society," he said.

As part of an inclusive collaboration, SANF invited PT Bintang Nusantara Linda Group to contribute to this activity. This step strengthens the bond between SANF, business partners, and stakeholders in carrying out joint responsibility for sustainability.

Meanwhile, SANF's Operation Director, Handri Susanto, emphasized that SANF is committed to continuing to involve business partners and all stakeholders in this sustainable program.

"We believe that with collaboration, we can create a more sustainable future," he said.

The support for the implementation of this activity was strengthened by the Indonesian Initiative for Sustainable Mining (IISM), a non-governmental institution that promotes sustainable mining practices. The trees planted will later be managed and utilized by the people of Sesulu Village, helping local economic growth.
