Becoming The First Green Port In Indonesia, Construction Yard Progress At Batu Ampar Port Reaches 21.95 Percent

JAKARTA - Construction of Container Yard (CY) and supporting infrastructure at the Batu Ampar Port Container Terminal in Batam, Riau Islands, showed significant progress.

Since the groundbreaking in May 2024, PT Waskita Beton Precast Tbk (WSBP) reports that currently its physical development has reached 21.95 percent.

"In this project, WSBP is trusted by @perseroanbatam to work on construction, design and build. Currently, the progress has reached 21.95 percent," reads the statement in the video upload on the official Instagram account @waskita_precast, Friday, November 15.

WSBP explained that this project has an important role in increasing PT Persero Batam's container storage capacity from 550,000 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) per year to 900,000 TEUs per year and modernizing ports to encourage economic growth in Batam.

For your information, the construction of CY and supporting infrastructure is part of PT Persero Batam's efforts to fix and modernize Batu Ampar Port as the first logistics hub and green port in Indonesia.

This effort is also one of the company's accelerated strategies in increasing the volume of goods unloading activities from the previous 550,000 TEUs to 900,000 TEUs per year.

The plan to build CY and supporting infrastructure for the Container Terminal is the result of the signing of a collaboration between BP Batam and PT Persero Batam on August 31, 2023, with a period of 37 years and becoming the starting point for the transformation of Batu Ampar Port into an international and modern standard Container Terminal.

There are three transformation stages, namely the construction of a 12 hectare CY (ha), the construction of a superstructure with the addition of 4 QC and 10 RTG as well as increased productivity and connectivity.
