JAKARTA - The PD203 City Area 2A MRT strategic project in Glodok, West Jakarta, continues to be accelerated.

As of early November 2024, the progress of the MRT Phase 2A CP203 Project which was worked on through Operational Cooperation (KSO) Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co. & Hutama Karya (SMCC-HK JO) has reached 63 percent.

As for October 21, 2024, a Breakthrough TBM-1 ceremonial has been carried out, which tunnel (terowongan) on CP203 is 1.4 kilometers (km) long, connecting the Glodok City Station, Mangga Besar City Station has been completed.

"In this JO project, Hutama Karya holds a 35 percent work scope with a work progress of 45 percent, including design, excavation, structural and mechanical, electronic and plumbing (MEP)," said Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim in a written statement, quoted Thursday, November 14.

Adjib said this project uses the latest technology such as the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) as well as the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM).

In addition, SMCC-HK JO also coordinates with stakeholders and government agencies regarding diversion traffic and relocation of affected utilities around the project area as an acceleration strategy.

According to Adjib, the project location located in the center of Jakarta City is a challenge for the work on the MRT Phase 2A CP203 Project, such as narrow land conditions, heavy traffic and cultural heritage buildings (heritage) around the project area.

"Regarding cultural heritage, we carry out special handling and coordinate with the Department of Culture and the Cultural Heritage Expert Team to maintain its historical value," he concluded.
