JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) said that Arsjad Rasjid would no longer run for chairman (ketum) in the upcoming National Conference (Munas).

Deputy Chairperson for the Organization of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Eka Sastra said Arsjad openly stated that he would no longer run for leadership in the next Chamber of Commerce and Industry period.

"The General Chairperson Arsjad Rasjid has publicly conveyed that he will no longer advance at the upcoming National Conference," said Eka in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, November 12.

Arsjad Rasjid was elected as Chairman of Kadin for the period 2021-2026 at the National Conference in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. This is in accordance with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART).

Eka said that the upcoming National Conference was accelerated because Arsjad wanted to find the best solution for the current dualism within Kadin.

"Because there are dynamics that occur, that's why he (Arsjad Rasjid) is weak, let's find the best solution for the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) was to formulate an agenda and accelerate the implementation of the National Conference (Munas) on November 29, 2024.

Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Organization Eka Sastra said that this Rapimnas was a follow-up to the agreement between Arsjad Rasjid and Anindya Bakrie. According to Eka, his party adheres to the principle that Kadin Indonesia is one and solid.

"The same spirit was stated in the agreement last September and was signed by Arsjad Rasjid and Anindya Bakrie. Thus, we will hold a National Leadership Meeting, on Friday, November 29, 2024, to formulate an agenda and accelerate the implementation of the National Conference," said Eka.

The preparation procedure will be carried out in accordance with the organizational Articles of Association/Household Budget (AD/ART). The National Conference Committee was also formed by both parties, with the time and location of the implementation according to the direction of the government.

Eka hopes that with one Kadin, the collaboration of the business world with ministries and government institutions, representatives of friendly countries, and various other stakeholders, it can run smoothly to foster the stability and progress of the Indonesian economy.
