JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is mapping national fish production to support the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program launched by President Prabowo Subianto.
The Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Budi Sulistiyo said that his party was preparing a number of strategies to support the program.
First, by mapping fish production in each district level, both from capture and cultivation fisheries.
"From the existing production, how much is the fish consumption, then we calculate it with data on the number of students in each district. We calculate the assumption of how many grams are used as free nutritious meals every week, so how much is the total need", Budi said on the Bincang Bahari agenda at the KKP office, Jakarta, Monday, November 11.
Through this mapping, according to Budi, it will be seen what fish commodities are needed for the MBG program and the needs of fish that have become export commodities so far.
"So, between supply and demand, we calculate, then facilities from existing frozen warehouses. So that it becomes a series of fish commodities, both to support national programs and increase exports, which we do," he said.
In addition, Budi said, his party has also mapped fisheries cooperatives in supporting Prabowo's flagship program.
It is known, until now there are 2,884 fishery cooperatives.
"We got it according to our records, 2,802 micro-scale business units, 69 small business units and 13 medium-sized business units," he said.
