JAKARTA - Around 65,000 young people throughout Indonesia participated in the peak of the 2024 Climate Guard Youth Action (AMJI) event which was held on October 26 at 1,285 locations, to commemorate Youth Pledge Day 96.
The initiative initiated by Perhutani, Marine Guard, EcoDefender, and the Economic Foundation aims to deal with the impact of climate change through real action at the local level.
As a collaborator, J Trust Bank also supports AMJI 2024 through the participation of employee volunteers at the Tanjung Pasir Mangrove Center, Tangerang Regency, namely planting 3,000 mangroves, seeding 5,000 mangrove seeds, and carrying out cleaning and sorting of garbage around coastal areas.
The second time participating in the AMJI movement was based on J Trust Bank's commitment to be responsible for decarbonization efforts, namely redeeming the carbon footprint resulting from operations and business practices.
Participation in AMJI 2024 is a real J Trust Bank action against one of the pillars of the corporate/CSR social responsibility, namely the Environmental Pillar.
J Trust Bank's Corporate Secretary Division Head, Ridyawan Amnar, stated that J Trust Bank supports the achievement of Indonesia's Net Zero Emission target in 2050.
"Simple steps but impacting what we do is one of them through mangrove planting. As we know, mangroves have the ability to absorb carbon that is special and have an important role for marine, coastal and land ecosystems," he said.
On the same occasion, the National Coordinator of the Sea Guard, Erwin Falufi Irianti, said that many young people are restless about climate change conditions, but they do not yet have a place to move together.
"We feel the need for continuous action with the driving force being young people. AMJI also prioritizes environmental issues around us that can be voiced, through real action specifically," said Erwin.
AMJI invites organizations or communities throughout Indonesia to move together to fight the climate crisis.
This year, as many as 85 communities and organizations joined the tens of thousands of volunteers consisting of young people, the government, the private sector, and the community.
