JAKARTA - The Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPI) held education on 100 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) regarding the basics of fintech lending.

AFPI Head of Education, Literacy and Research Marcella Wijayanti said this was AFPI's commitment to increasing public financial literacy, especially for Indonesian migrant workers.

"This aims to provide a comprehensive understanding to migrant workers regarding digital financial services, especially fintech lending," Marcella said in a statement to the media, Saturday, November 2.

Marcella further detailed that the material presented includes how to select trusted fintech lending service providers, tips on avoiding fraud, as well as the benefits and risks of using this service.

"We realize that migrant workers have an important role in the Indonesian economy. Therefore, we feel compelled to provide relevant financial education so that they can use financial technology wisely and responsibly," he explained.

Marcella hopes, with sufficient knowledge, migrant workers can avoid the risk of using irresponsible financial services.

"AFPI plans to distribute educational materials that suit the needs of Indonesian migrant workers to the Hong Kong Consulate General," he said.

In the future, Marcella ensures that AFPI is open to collaborating with the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General in support of educational and financial technology literacy activities for Indonesian migrant workers.

Previously, AFPI expanded its global network by participating in Hong Kong Fintech Week.

Marcella explained that AFPI's participation in Hong Kong Fintech Week has shown that Indonesia's fintech industry has made significant progress.

"With the support of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the government, as well as the high commitment of fintech lending operators, the Indonesian fintech industry continues to innovate and continue to make a positive contribution to the national economy, and become the best practice fintech lending world," he said.
