JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait said that his party had to work 25 times to achieve the target program of three million houses made by President Prabowo Subianto.

The minister, who is familiarly called Ara, explained that the hard work was because the budget for public housing fell in 2025. Meanwhile, the target for housing development next year is increasing.

"(Year) in 2024 the target is 145,000, I received data from the Director General of Housing of only 34,000 per day, the budget is Rp. 14 trillion. Imagine, this year we only target 145,000 per day to reach 34,000. I beg you as a function of DPR supervision, critical me, is that right?" he said during a working meeting (Raker) with Commission V DPR RI at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 29.

"If this data is true, it means we have to work to imagine 25 times to reach 3 million (homes)," he continued.

Ara also asked DPR members to criticize the budget given for next year. This is because the target that must be achieved is quite heavy, namely the construction of three million houses per year.

"Our budget is from Rp. 14 (trillion) to Rp. 5 trillion, we have to build three million houses. Please also criticize whether the budget is true because maybe some of you / you made this budget with the ministry before me, is the budget suitable for building three million houses? Right, we want to be open, yes, from the start we want to be open as clearly as possible," said Ara.

Previously, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) led by Maruarar Sirait or Ara received a budget of IDR 5.07 trillion for 2025.

The budget will be focused on building three million houses, which is President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program.

"Imagine this is our budget, Rp5 trillion (for) 2025. Asked to build how many million houses? Three million houses. What is the budget for 2024? Rp14.68 trillion," said Ara in an event entitled 'Discussion of the Three Million Houses Program' which was held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Public Works, Jakarta, Monday, October 28.

He added that the total 2025 budget of IDR 5.07 trillion is already included in the allocation for the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) next year, which is around IDR 1.2 trillion.
