JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) is expanding remittance or remittance services in 12 partner countries in Asia to America to increase access to financial services for Indonesian people abroad.
"This is BSI's step towards a role as a universal bank that can serve customers abroad through remittance services," said BSI Sales & Distribution Director Anton Sukarna in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 28.
He mentioned that the twelve countries are Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Britain, and the United States.
Until now, the company has recorded more than 1.2 million remittance transactions, both for incoming and outgoing money transfers from Indonesia, with growth reaching more than 20 percent every year.
"We are optimistic that this number will continue to increase along with the addition of partners and countries that are collaborating with BSI," he said.
Anton said that his party had adopted an integrated Application Programming Interface (API) technology to make it easier for customers to transact in real-time anytime and anywhere.
The service aims to provide flexibility and comfort for customers, especially for migrant workers who are far from the country.
He stated that the company is committed to increasing the reach of remittance services in various other countries to make it easier for migrant workers to send money to Indonesia and support the activities of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in these countries.
