JAKARTA - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional and Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), are ready to install a roof Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 2.5 MWp at the Balikpapan Refinery. This PLTS will be the largest roof PLTS installed in the Pertamina operating area.

Pertamina NRE's Director of Project & Operations, Norman Ginting, said that the collaboration carried out in building Solar Power Plants (PLTS) was something that was concrete Pertamina's commitment.

"I really appreciate and are enthusiastic about this strategic collaboration. This is not our first collaboration with the Pertamina International Refinery in the PLTS utilization project in the refinery area. Pertamina NRE is committed to continuing to support efforts to reduce emissions in Pertamina's operating areas, especially since the PLTS which will be built at the Balikpapan Refinery will become the largest capacity PLTS in Pertamina. We are very happy that this collaboration continues," Norman said in a statement to the media, Friday, October 25.

Adding this, the Director of Operations of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, Didik Bahagia also said that the construction of this PLTS is a form of real contribution and form of cooperation, as well as a special stepping stone as Pertamina's commitment process to always take advantage of new renewable energy and maintain environmental roughness.

"This PLTS ceremony has become a special milestone as a commitment process for Pertamina in order to reduce emissions to achieve Net Zero Emission which must be achieved in 2060. If this PLTS is successful and completed, then the total PLTS in PT KPI as a whole will start from Dumai to Balikpapan to 12.37 MWp," said Didik.

The PLTS will be installed on the roof of the HSSE building, warehouse, and workshop building in the Balikpapan refinery area. By installing the PLTS, the Balikpapan Refinery has the potential to reduce emissions by 2,736 tons equivalent to CO2 per year.

Currently, PLTS which has been installed and operated in the KPI operating area is spread across 4 refinery areas with a total capacity of 9.87 MWp, namely at Dumai Refinery, Balongan Refinery, Cilacap Refinery, and Plaju Refinery. With the addition of the roof PLTS at the Balikpapan Refinery, the installed capacity of PLTS in the KPI refinery area reaches 12.37 MWp with a total emission reduction potential of 12,722 tons, equivalent to CO2 per year.

Not only that, Didik also expressed his appreciation for PT KPI's operational performance and cost optimization which showed good performance.

"Currently, operational performance and cost optimization are showing good performance. In the process, our sweat is pouring out and giving the best results for the company," said the student.

Didik hopes that the construction of this PLTS will become a symbiotic mutualism with PNRE as an effort to reduce loss, and can maintain PT KPI's operations so that it continues to run normally.

"Currently the Revamp program is over, let's keep operating normally so that next year we can complete the RFCC for additional capacity. Hopefully the symbiosis of mutualism carried out with PNRE can make a high contribution to the company, such as the construction of this PLTS and others," said Didik.
