Bahlil Ensures Safe CPO Stock to Intensify B50 and B60 Programs

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia ensured that the stock of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) or crude palm oil is sufficient for the mandatory biodiesel program. Just so you know, biodiesel is a fuel oil that mixes CPO with diesel fuel.

This is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's program who wants to develop the B50 to B60 program after successfully implementing the B35 and B40 programs. This step is Prabowo's vision to strengthen energy independence and accelerate the transition to renewable energy in Indonesia.

"We have a lot, we export (CPO). Now we are B40, now we will push to B50 to B60. If asked whether it is enough or not, B35 to B40, we have used up approximately 14 million kiloliters. Well, while our exports are still high. Well, if asked whether our CPO capacity is sufficient or not, it is sufficient. It is definitely sufficient," explained Bahlil as quoted on Tuesday, October 22.

After ensuring that the CPO supply is sufficient for this strategic project, Bahlil will also ensure the use of the right technology so that this project can run well.

"Well, we just have to see the technology. Well, this technology must be by process for us to test. So that when it is implemented, B50-B60, it has really passed a good test," explained Bahlil.

Previously, Bahlil said that his party was still conducting a study related to the B50 program.

Bahlil said that the current global trend is towards a shift from fossil fuels, such as coal, to renewable energy, along with increasing awareness of green energy.

However, Bahlil emphasized that the transition to renewable energy faces major challenges, including the need for significant capital investment in the green energy sector.

"In another aspect, we know that almost all people in the world are talking about green energy, there is a shift from coal fossils to new renewable energy. This is a new challenge for us, at the same time it requires a lot of capital investment costs," he said.
