Minister Of Agriculture Syarul Yasin Limpo: Our Hope In Ramadan Until Eid Al-Fitr Food Needs Are Really Available

JAKARTA - The Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, guarantees that food needs and meat supplies for the community are safe to be fulfilled during Ramadan until Eid Al-Fitr 2021.

"We hope that in Ramadan until Eid Al-Fitr, food needs will truly be available," said Syahrul Yasin, Tuesday, April 6.

"We report at any time to the president about the supply of eleven available commodities," he continued.

Syahrul revealed that according to predetermined estimates, the need for meat commodities could be controlled according to existing standards.

However, he said, the price of meat will rise following high demand during Ramadan to Lebaran. However, the Ministry of Agriculture is still monitoring the limits of price increases.

"If there is an uncontrollable hike in prices, market operations will be carried out," said Syahrul.

However, the Ministry of Agriculture will intervene in prices, one of which is to bring meat producing areas closer to meat deficit areas.

"We hope the frozen meat needs will be ready. We will bring in fresh meat to meet basic needs, ”said Syahrul.

For information, the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture has calculated that the normal demand for meat in April will reach 56 thousand tons. Meanwhile, in May, it amounted to 76 thousand tons.

For local cattle stock, both feeder and local cattle, there are 188 thousand head of cattle that are ready to be slaughtered for the April and May periods.
