Bank Mandiri Headquarters Becomes The Building With The Best Energy Management

Bank Mandiri affirms its commitment to implementing the principle of sustainability in the company's operations. Most recently, Plaza Mandiri, who is the company's Head Office, was lined up to be the best in the Energy Management category on Building Industry and Buildings, a subcategory of the Big Building in the prestigious event of the 2024 Subroto Award.

The building, which is managed by PT Gedung Bank Exim (GBE), has succeeded in outperforming other major building nominees in Indonesia thanks to the implementation of a sustainable and innovative energy efficiency strategy, based on an assessment provided by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

According to the President Director of PT Gedung Bank Exim Gempur Soesetyo Hadi, the sustainable energy management at the 32-story building has referred to the best international practice by prioritizing the principle of efficiency and sustainability. This is also in line with Bank Mandiri's commitment to seek to realize the vision of neutral carbon emissions or net zero operational emissions by 2030.

"As one of the managers of Bank Mandiri's assets, we are committed to supporting and continuing to collaborate with Bank Mandiri to implement the best energy management in the operations of all managed assets to increase energy efficiency to achieve the national Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) target," said Gempur when receiving the award presented by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and witnessed by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta, Thursday, October 10, evening.

He continued, one of the efficiency applied is retrofitting or adding renewable technology to the Significant Energy User System (SEUs) such as the water conditioning system and energy efficient lighting system.

"The results are very significant. Because Plaza Mandiri is able to save 33% of the baseline (2017) until 2023 is 11,735,360 kWh/year or equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 10,327.12 tons of CO2/MWh," he explained.

Not only that, but his party has also prepared a special HR team that functions to monitor and evaluate the application of technology and disseminate information to all building users. In addition to the Plaza Mandiri building, currently PT Bank Exim Building is also listed as the manager of Mandiri Digital Tower, which has obtained Platinum certification from the Green Building Council. This certification shows a commitment to environmentally friendly buildings and Bank Mandiri's support in achieving sustainability targets and comprehensive application of ESG.
