Opened By Jokowi, BP2MI Participates In Indonesia's 39th Trade Expo

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) participated in the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) with the theme "Build Strong Connection with the Best of Indonesia", organized by the Ministry of Trade.

The activity which was held from 9-11 October 2024 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), Tangerang, Banten, was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

Rinardi's Main Secretary said that BP2MI, which regularly participates in TEI activities every year, this year shows how BP2MI provides placement and protection services to Indonesian Migrant Workers, one of which is Retired Indonesian Migrant Workers.

This Retired Indonesian Migrant Worker, continued Rinardi, after returning from working abroad, was entrepreneurial and produced several business results.

"We bring the products from their business results and try to offer them in the international market, because this exhibition is attended by buyers from all over the world," he said.

Rinardi added, basically the Indonesian government wants to open up maximum job opportunities in other countries.

"Of course we have to make sure that we place Indonesian migrant workers in countries that protect labor rights, have social security, and of course follow the existing rules in the country," concluded Rinardi.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Placement and Protection of America and the Pacific Region, A Gatot Hermawan, explained that the 2024 TEI activity is very strategic for BP2MI because it is a place of information on job opportunities, to bring together potential employees and potential supply in BP2MI.

Until this afternoon, 180 prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers have been looking for information on job opportunities abroad and several potential employers have come to our booth. At this booth, there is also related to the preparation of supply. We bring an example of how the competence of health workers and baristas is prepared, so that they can work abroad, "explained Gatot.
