PT PLN (Persero) and PT PLN Energi Primary Indonesia (PLN EPI) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the use of land owned by PLN in gas infrastructure development.

This infrastructure strengthening collaboration covers the onshore gasification infrastructure, regasification units (ORU), and pipelines (pipelines) to support gas power plants in the areas of Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua.

EVP General Affairs of PLN, Arsyadhany Akmala Putri, said that this collaboration is a strategic step for PLN and PLN EPI.

"We as a division responsible for the management of all PLN property assets continue to encourage the existing assets to be utilized optimally, both for electricity and non-operational operational purposes. With a very large amount of assets, including more than 100,000 plots of land spread throughout Indonesia, we are ready to fully support the plan to build this gasification infrastructure," said Arsyadhany, Saturday, October 5.

The Director of BBM and Gas of PLN EPI, Rakhmad Dewanto, in his speech emphasized that this gasification project is one of the great steps for PLN in supporting national energy security.

"With this collaboration, we are able to utilize existing land for the construction of gasification infrastructure at 22 strategic points, with the main target of replacing the use of fuel with liquefied natural gas (LNG). This step will not only save PLN's operational costs, but also have a significant impact on the clean energy transition in Indonesia," said Rakhmad.

He also said this collaboration supports the development of local industries, especially in the Sulawesi region which is one of the centers for smelter activities in Indonesia.

"This gasification is not only for power plants, but also for industrial sectors such as smelters that really need clean and efficient energy. We are optimistic that this collaboration will be a successful business model in the future," said Rakhmad.
